They originally began researching Spahn's amazing MLB career and his legacy as a lethal left-hander. They were not far into their research before realizing he had perhaps an even more important legacy, that of a WWII veteran. How many Americans can say they fought in perhaps our nation's most important battle (Battle of the Bulge) and won the World Series of our favorite pastime? How many Americans can say they earned the Purple Heart and won the Cy Young Award?
Their team has collected more than 30 primary and secondary sources to tell you just how he accomplished these feats. They have embodied the word "teamwork". Simon has brought in multiple artifacts from his own family and Nathan has collected sources on-line and at the library. Meanwhile, Makayla traveled all the way to Richmond, VA to the Virginia Hall of Fame to take pictures and collect further evidence on the great Warren Spahn!
If you want to learn more about the "Leadership and Legacy" of Warren Spahn, please join us on Thursday, Feb. 12th from 6 to 8 p.m. to see their exhibit!
