This past Saturday our debate team competed in various levels at Carver Vocational Technical High School. A big round of applause for Lucy's first debate. Imani helped lead Lucy to a couple of victories. The team of Michelle and Kieyehn won second place in the open division! Michelle also came in second place as "best speaker". A big congratulations to all of them! Make sure you let them know how proud we are of their accomplishments!
We had an amazing visit at the Maryland Science Center yesterday! We were able to see mummies up close and personal from civilizations all around the world. This exhibit will help us understand civilizations we will be studying all year in Social Studies. Each mummy had it's own unique story. Throughout the tour of the exhibit students conducted research on the different mummies and their past. (pictured below). Some students were even researching mummies for their National History Day project. That is about as good of a primary source that one can ask for! Sorry we don't have more pcutres to share. We were unable to take pictures inside the exhibit. To learn more go to their website!
After weeks of hard work almost all of our bibliographies are completed! Each bibliography has at least five secondary and five primary sources. Now we are off to finish the projects themselves! See everybody on Feb. 11th for our first annual Mt. Washington National History Day Night!
This page is dedicated to the work and research my students do each day.
