U.S. Navy Captain George Hull was in charge of maintaining the Panama Canal for a number of years. Its not an exaggeration to say that much of the global economy depended on this vital passageway being open and running smoothly. In 1977 the U.S. agreed to slowly transfer authority of the canal to the Panamanians by1999. It was Capt. George Hull's responsibility to leave the canal in good shape for the Panama Canal Authority.
