This past Saturday the Mt. Washington Debate Team won first place again at the Baltimore Urban Debate League competition. In fact, the TOP SIX teams in the varsity division were from Mt. Washington! A big congratulations to Xavier and Jamal who had their highest score ever! This fall our debate topic was over police body cameras. When we return in January the topic will be recycling! Please see me if you are interested in joining our team!
Michelle Seaberg and Keiyehn Gray won trophies for being the #1 Varsity Team for the entire year! Congratulations to all the debaters! Everyone that participated won medals at different rounds throughout the year! I encourage anybody who would like to join the Debate Team, to do so! Just let me know if you are interested, everyone is invited! This year we debated on lowering the voting age and the pros and cons of utilizing solar power on Baltimore City schools. I can't wait to hear what we will debate next year!
Our final debate of the regular season was last Saturday. Once again everybody medaled! We learn this week who is moving on to the championship round in early May! Stay tuned!

For the first time in the team's history every one of the debaters earned at least one medal on Saturday! They either placed in the top 10 teams, the top 10 speakers, or both! Give a big congratulations to the Debate Team! If anyone else is interested in joining the Debate Team please let me know! We are ALWAYS open to adding more members!
